OAKLAND — Embers from fireworks after the end of the A’s game Friday night ignited a large fire of bulk roofing materials at a nearby supply business temporarily preventing people from using the Coliseum BART Station, officials said Saturday.

No one was injured and no structures at the ABC Supply Company, 7217 San Leandro Street were damaged, fire officials said.

Batallion Fire Chief James Bowron said Saturday an inspector had determined the fire, which broke out about 10:40 p.m. Friday,  was accidental and was a result of fireworks embers.

No one could be reached Saturday at the business.

The A’s held one of their occasional fireworks shows after their game with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The fire burned as thousands of people were leaving not only the A’s game but a Paul Simon concert at the Coliseum complex.

More than 20 Oakland firefighters responded and had the fire under control by 11:30 p.m., Bowron said. He said bulk roofing materials out in the yard were the only things damaged. He did not have an estimate for the damage.

Sam Delson, of Sacramento, who had attended the concert at Oracle Arena, said in a social media post  “the bridge from the stadium and the arena to the (BART) station was closed and people were trying to scramble up the dirt embankment to get to the station until police ordered them to turn back.”

The bridge closure was only temporary, according to Battalion Chief Ian McWhorter. “Before I left, everyone was crossing the bridge,” he said.

There was no impact on the A’s Saturday game.
