PLEASANTON — Eight people escaped with minor injuries Monday morning after the minivan they were riding in swerved off the interstate and landed in a canal.
The crash, which involved a 2017 Toyota Sienna, was reported just before 6 a.m. on northbound Interstate 680, south of Interstate 580, said California Highway Patrol Officer John Fransen. Officers cleared the crash scene by 7:45 a.m.
CHP has not determined what caused the minivan to veer off the road, travel 150 feet and end up in a canal, Fransen said. Officers are investigating whether the crash may have been a hit-and-run involving another vehicle.
The eight occupants of the minivan were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
