OAKLAND — The discovery of hazardous materials prompted a call to the bomb squad Wednesday, Cal Fire officials said.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office declined to offer additional information, and referred questions to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
According to CalFire spokesman John Cox, Cal Fire law enforcement were serving a search warrant for possession of illegal fireworks when they found hazardous material and called in the bomb squad. No other information was immediately available.

At 5:50 p.m., Oakland fire officials posted to Twitter that Alameda County sheriff’s officials were joining their response to a hazardous-materials incident involving multiple chemicals inside a building at 26th and West streets.
