ALAMEDA — Four individuals were arrested Wednesday morning after officers from several East Bay police agencies served warrants in both Alameda and Contra Costa counties in connection with recent armed robberies at cellphone stores.
SWAT teams from the Alameda, Berkeley, Oakland, Hayward, Brentwood and Pittsburgh police served the arrest and search warrants about 6 a.m. at six locations.
The names, ages and other details of those arrested, as well as the exact locations where they were taken into custody, were not disclosed.
The arrests stem from an investigation that began April 9 after an armed takeover robbery of an AT&T store in Alameda, according to Alameda police Lt. Hoshmand Durani.
Working with neighboring agencies, investigators learned several people were allegedly working together and were suspects in numerous other armed robberies in Alameda County and surrounding areas.
“In each robbery incident, the armed suspects entered a cellular phone store and forcibly took the store’s merchandise and the customer’s personal property,” Durani said in release. “In total, there are six suspects identified, and four were arrested today.”
Durani said no other information about the searches and the individuals arrested will be released because of the ongoing investigation.
