Family and friends gather on Willie Stargell Field Thursday to take part in the commencement ceremony of the 62nd Encinal High School graduating class of 2018. The ceremony started with an EHS tradition, the graduate’s procession was lead by a small group of fellow Jets from the class of 1968.
Teacher Kevin Gorham opened the ceremony with a welcome address followed by speeches from the Salutatorian Ada Barreto, the Valedictorian Anneli Arneston, the Inspirational Speaker Christina Craig, Principal Daniel Hurst and Superintendent Sean McPhetridge. A selection of music was played by the Encinal Band lead by Armen Phelps and an emotional presentation was held for those teachers and staff that are retiring or leaving the school.
Cell phones and cameras were at the ready as the graduates took to the stage for the presentation of diplomas. Cheers, celebratory dances, confetti, smiles and hugs followed.
