UNION CITY — Multiple people were shot at a local cemetery and funeral home Thursday night, according to police.

Union City police responded to several calls just after 7 p.m. reporting a possible shooting at Chapel of the Chimes cemetery on Mission Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found three people suffering gunshot wounds, according to police. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment, but their condition was not immediately known.

Police located two other victims during their investigation. One had self-transported to a local hospital, and the other was contacted by police away from the scene of the shooting, police said.

The northbound lanes of Mission Blvd. between Tamarack Drive and Lafayette Avenue remained closed during the investigation.

Police did not identify the victims Thursday night and did not have information about the suspect.

A further investigation of the crime is underway, police said.
