LIVERMORE — The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert blocking lanes of Highway 84 after firefighters’ response to reports of several grass fires, authorities said Sunday.
Just after 3:50 p.m. Sunday, those fires were spotted on the right-hand side of the roadway close to the Ruby Hill golf course in Livermore.

Firefighters with the Alameda County Fire Department and California Department of Forestry responded to the area, and Livermore police aided with traffic assistance.
Around 4:25 p.m., the CHP issued an alert for westbound lanes between Livermore and Interstate 680 with no estimated time of reopening. There were no initial reports of injuries, the CHP said.

The fire’s forward progress was stopped at 5:06 p.m., with Livermore-Pleasanton, Alameda County and CalFire firefighters still on scene,

Shortly before 6:10 p.m., Cal Fire officials said the fire had burned 20 acres and was about 50 percent contained.
