SAN FRANCISCO — Federal prosecutors have filed charges of manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine against a Bay Area man who allegedly produced counterfeit Adderall, authorities said.
Gino Eckstein faces 40 years in prison and a $5 million fine if convicted. He was arrested following three police raids in Brisbane and San Leandro, where police say they seized more than a pound of meth and empty capsules labeled to look like Adderall pills.
Adderall is a prescription drug used to treat ADHD that is often misused as a recreational stimulant. It is chemically similar to meth.
In a Brisbane home where Eckstein is believed to have been living, authorities found bundles of cash, a few ounces of suspected meth, and a “to-do” list on a white board that referred to “shrooms” and “ADDS production.” In the San Leandro residence, they found at least a pound of suspected meth, according to court records.
Eckstein was assigned an attorney at his first court appearance Friday, and has not yet entered a plea.
