OAKLAND — The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the victim of an East Oakland collision late last week, authorities said.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to 35th Avenue and Galindo Street for a report of an injury collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist, police said in a statement Sunday.
Paramedics and Oakland firefighters also responded, and found the bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner’s bureau identified him Sunday as Deontae Bush, 34, of Oakland.
Officers later learned that a Chevrolet Express Limited van was driving northbound on 35th Avenue and had just entered the intersection at Galindo when Bush entered the roadway and was struck, police said.
The van’s driver, a 40-year-old Oakland resident, remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
