PIEDMONT — A fire burned a house Tuesday morning near the Oakland border, officials said.
The fire started about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in the garage of a home in the 100 block of St. James Place. Firefighters were still on the scene as of 11:30 a.m.
The residents were able to get out of the home on their own and no injuries were reported.
The fire apparently spread into the house. Smoke from the fire could be seen over a large area.
Oakland firefighters were also on the scene assisting Piedmont firefighters.
Officials were trying to determine what caused the fire. A damage figure was not available.
