BERKELEY — Two men were hospitalized and one other injured after a shooting in San Pablo Park in south Berkeley on Saturday.

Police were called to the southern end of San Pablo Park at approximately 5:34 p.m. on Saturday following reports of gunfire, according to Berkeley Police Lt. Peter Hong. Three men were hit by the gunfire.

Two men were transported to a local trauma center with injuries that were described as serious. As of Saturday night, one patient was in stable condition while the other remained in critical condition. A third man sustained minor injuries to his hand from the incident.

There was limited information on the suspect or suspects, though police said it was likely a passing car that fired into a group of people at the park. Police continue to investigate the incident and ask that anyone with information about the incident call the BPD Homicide Unit at 510-981-5741.

Police also are requesting any residents or businesses check any video surveillance equipment that may have caught the incident or anything else that may be useful in the investigation.

Check back for updates.
