BERKELEY — Whether it is a UC Berkeley student or another person is not known yet, but someone won almost $84,000 Wednesday night playing a California Lottery game at a Berkeley mini mart, officials said.

The person, who so far has not come forward and who might not even know they won, bought a Fantasy 5 game ticket at the Campus Minimart, 2200 Durant Ave, a block from the UC Campus.

The winning numbers for the $167,572 jackpot, that had rolled over after no one picked all five numbers in Tuesday’s game, were  1, 7, 20, 34, and 39.

Whoever bought the ticket in Berkeley and another person in San Diego who also picked all five numbers, each won $83,786, officials said.

The winners have six months to claim their prize.

A store employee said Thursday morning  they had not been aware someone won and no one had come in to say they had the winning ticket. “We get all kinds of customers here, UC students, their families, other people. Anyone can stop here.  I don’t know yet who it is.”

Fantasy 5 is played seven nights a week.  Thursday night’s jackpot was a minimum of $76,000.
