OAKLAND — A Bay Area man is facing two charges related to allegedly manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine after officials found five pounds of the drub in a car in which he was a passenger, according to court records.
Richard Edward Ray Reyes faces 40 years in prison if convicted of the charges. He was arrested after an undercover investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, court records indicate. According to the records, Reyes first met with an undercover agent in Dublin and sold him a half-pound of meth. Then he arranged to sell the agent five pounds of the drug, but authorities intercepted him in an unspecified part of Santa Clara County.
They searched the car he was a passenger in, and found a bag containing five pounds of meth, according to an affidavit signed by a DEA agent. At his first court appearance this week, Reyes’ arraignment was continued to March 15, according to court records. He has not yet entered a plea.
