OAKLAND — Firefighters were able to control a one-alarm house fire that broke out Sunday night in East Oakland, authorities said.
At 8:10 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the 3900 block of Altamont Avenue in the city’s Millsmont neighborhood, an Oakland Fire Department dispatcher said.
According to fire department tweets, the first of four engines to arrive found heavy fire coming from the house’s rear, and firefighters aboard the engines and two trucks — along with a battalion chief — worked to beat back flames and carry out searches.
Firefighters were able to knock down the fire by 8:36 p.m.. No word was immediately available on injuries, displacement or damage estimates.
