OAKLAND — A 24-year-old man was shot Friday evening while sitting in his parked car near Lake Merritt, police said Saturday.

Another person inside the vehicle was not injured, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 6:50 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of Boden Way, a residential street just east of Lakeshore Avenue and a short distance from Lake Merritt.

Authorities said the man and the other person were inside the parked vehicle when someone approached from outside and shot the man, an Oakland resident who lives in another area of the city.  Despite being wounded the man was able to drive to a hospital where he was in stable condition.

A detailed description of the shooter was not released.  Police do not have a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
