OAKLAND — The city of Oakland has hired a new deputy city administrator who will help lead major real estate negotiations including the Oakland A’s ballpark plans.
City Administrator Sabrina Landreth on Thursday announced longtime city consultant Elizabeth “Betsy” Lake will begin her new job on March 5.
“I am excited to have Betsy Lake join the city of Oakland in this critical leadership position,” Landreth said in a statement. “Betsy has a proven track record of working with Oakland, a passion for this city, and deep experience working with both the private and public sectors. These skill sets will help Betsy make significant inroads advancing Oakland’s real estate interests on behalf of Oaklanders.”
Lake most recently worked at Holland & Knight and has more than 23 years experience in land use issues and real estate, including working with the city on the Oakland Army Base project and Richmond’s Miraflores housing development project. Previously, Lake worked for the U.S. Department of the Interior, according to a city news release.
The Oakland resident holds a law degree from Stanford University. Oakland is also searching for a replacement for Assistant City Administrator Claudia Cappio, who retired in December.
