SAN LEANDRO — Los Angeles police detained a man Tuesday after the San Leandro police SWAT team carried out a search-and-arrest warrant, authorities said.
In a statement, police said that LAPD detectives located the man who was sought on suspicion of a felony before obtaining a warrant and delivering it to tactical operations team members.
SWAT team members carried out the warrant in a 5 a.m. operation on Sweetwater Drive, detaining the man and turning him over to LAPD detectives.
“The operation was executed as planned, and the target suspect was located and detained without incident,” San Leandro police Lt. Isaac Benabou said. “Our tactical team leaders conducted many hours of research and planning into this operation to ensure a safe and smooth application.”
Investigators with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Bureau of Investigations were present, and police turned the man over to FBI and LAPD custody.
Police declined to make investigation details available, and a call to the LAPD for comment was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.
