OAKLAND — A 25-year-old Alameda man was shot Monday night in the San Antonio area of East Oakland while he checked the air in a tire, authorities said.
The man was able to drive himself to a hospital and was in stable condition.
The shooting happened at 9:42 p.m. Monday in the area of 17th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard outside San Antonio Park.
The man told police he was outside his vehicle checking the air pressure on a tire when he heard gunshots and realized a few seconds later he had been wounded. He then drove to a hospital.
Police have not said what the man was doing in Oakland and are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and whether the man was the intended target. No arrests have been made.
