Apology for hatred of Jews– under political pressure

Re: “Rep. Omar apologizes after House Dems condemn her comments” (page A4, Feb. 13):

After strong condemnation by House Democratic leaders, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn, proud of her Muslim heritage, took to Twitter to apologize for promoting anti-Semitic tropes. Yet there is no validity to a politically pressured, and expedient, retraction of hatred of Jews.

During her congressional campaign, Rep. Omar  reportedly called the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign to delegitimize the Jewish state of Israel “counteractive” to the goal of a two-state solution. After her election, she supported BDS.

America’s Founding Fathers held Judaism in great esteem. Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell is inscribed with the Old Testament quotation (Leviticus 25:10) “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.”
