El Cerrito police calls: Jogger beaten by four males on BART path; nothing stolen

Tuesday, Jan. 30

Residential burglary and warrant: Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Kearney Street for a burglary. The victim said he confronted the suspect inside his detached garage taking items and the suspect fled before police arrived. An officer found a 33-year-old transient man that matched the description given by the victim and the man was identified as the suspect. The man had two outstanding warrants from Solano County.

Residential burglary: Between 3 to 3:15 p.m., five suspects broke into a house at the 500 block of Clayton Avenue by breaking a window on the back of the house. The suspects stole silver and a laptop. A neighbor saw five juveniles around the house during the time. They all left southbound on Clayton Avenue.

Warrant: A 35-year-old man from El Cerrito on San Francisco warrant was arrested at Waldo Avenue and Kearney Street.

Thursday, Feb. 1

Stolen Vehicle: A green, two-door 1996 Acura Integra was stolen between 5:50 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. on the 1600 block of Lexington Avenue.

Auto burglary: Police officers were dispatched to a report of a possible auto burglary in progress at the 2000 block of Key Boulevard. An officer spotted and detained one of the suspects, a 37-year-old Richmond man who is on probation. The other suspect was on a bicycle and was not located. The Richmond man was arrested.

Friday, Feb. 2

Stolen motor scooter: An orange 2006 Buddy 50 cc motor scooter with Wisconsin plates was stolen from a residence on the 5500 block of MacDonald Avenue. The scooter does not run.

Auto burglary: Between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., the window of a Ford F-150 was smashed and a gym bag with golf shoes was stolen at the 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue. The officer located an additional victim vehicle, a gold Nissan Sentra in the parking lot.

Warrant: A 41-year-old man was arrested in El Cerrito Plaza for an outstanding warrant out of San Francisco. An inventory search of man’s vehicle revealed a duffel bag containing five pounds of marijuana.

Sunday, Feb. 4

Stolen motorcycle: A black 1994 Honda Magna motorcycle with no rear fender was stolen between 11 p.m. and 11 a.m. on the 6400 block of Waldo Avenue.

Warrant: A 27-year-old Richmond man and a 31-year-old Pittsburg woman, who both had Contra Costa County warrants, were arrested at 11299 San Pablo Ave. The male was found in possession of methamphetamine and a shaved key and the female had a window punch.

Monday, Feb. 5

Theft from vehicle: A theft from a vehicle was reported between 2:45 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 5 at the  7400 block of Stockton Avenue.

Stolen vehicle: A 1994 Honda Accord was stolen between 11 p.m. Feb. 2 and 9 a.m. Feb. 3 on the 1700 block of Manor Circle:

Stolen vehicle recovery: A 2009 Toyota Rav4, which was reported stolen to Milpitas police on Jan. 24, was recovered at Elm Street and Key Boulevard.

Warrant: A 63-year-old Richmond man was arrested for a Fremont warrant at Manila and San Pablo avenues.

Tuesday, Feb. 6

Robbery: Someone stolen several cases of Ensure and Boost from the Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave.

Arson and battery on an officer: A 54-year-old female transient was arrested for starting fires at Nations and at Lucky in El Cerrito Plaza. During her arrest, the female kicked an officer in the leg.

Residential burglary: Three suspects entered a residence at the 1200 block of Rivera Avenue and stole property.

Auto burglary: A truck’s interior was ransacked between 7:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on the 5300 block of School Street.

Auto burglary: Someone stole tools from a work van between 8 p.m. Feb. 5 and 4:30 a.m. Feb. 6 at the 800 block of S. 53rd Street.

Warrant: A 30-year-old man from Antioch was arrested on a Contra Costa County warrant. A search yielded methamphetamine, cocaine and a pipe.

Battery: A man was out for a jog and running southbound on the BART path on Waldo Avenue when he was surrounded by four males. One suspect punched the man from behind and the man fell to the ground. The males then assaulted the man when he was on the ground. The man was able to get up and run away. The suspects never demanded property or attempted to go through the victim’s pockets. The suspects were all described as Hispanic males between the ages of 18-20, 5-feet-9, skinny and wearing dark clothing.

Wednesday, Feb. 7

Stolen vehicle recovery: A 1996 Acura Integra that had been reported stolen to police on Feb. 1 was recovered on the 6500 block of Manila.

Warrant: The 29-year-old male driver from Santa Rosa was arrested for possession of heroin at 11780 San Pablo Ave. He was also driving on a suspended license. A 32-year-old female passenger from Santa Rosa was arrested on a Napa County warrant. A second passenger, a 45-year-old man from Santa Cruz, was arrested on a Contra Costa County.

Thursday, Feb. 8

Auto burglary: Tools were stolen from a work van between 4 p.m. Feb. 7 and 5 a.m. Feb. 8 at the 2300 block of Carquinez Avenue.

Auto burglary: Miscellaneous papers were stolen from a vehicle between 9:30 Feb. 7 and 8:45 a.m. Feb. 8 at the 2300 block of Carquinez Avenue.

Stolen vehicle: A green 1998 Honda Civic four-door was stolen on the 1200 block of Liberty Street.

Theft from vehicle: Someone stole tools from a pickup truck’s lockbox on the 2400 block of Edwards Avenue.

Grand theft from vehicle: A credit card, house keys, snow tires and tools were stolen from a truck at the 6900 block of Wilson Way.

Auto burglary: A chain saw, leaf blower and other tools were stolen from a El Cerrito Public Works city truck at Home Depot, 11900 block of San Pablo Avenue. The loss was estimated at $1,400.
