Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect whose dog bit a trail hiker at an East Bay regional park, authorities said.

In a statement, police said a woman hiking on Anthony Chabot Regional Park’s Goldenrod Trail was bitten by a dog about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 21.

Police said the dog’s owner did not stay at the scene, so the victim was unable to get information from the owner. The hiker suffered a moderate leg injury.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned woman about 5-foot-11 with a slim build, brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair, wearing a black jacket, dark-colored pants and white tennis shoes.

The woman had two dogs — one an unknown breed of medium size with a black coat, light-brown stomach and an upright ear, and a yellow Labrador retriever. Park police did not say which dog bit the woman.

Anyone wishing to report information on this incident is asked to call 510-881-1121 24 hours a day, and reference case 19-02080 when calling.
