OAKLAND — Firefighters brought flames under control at a West Oakland warehouse fire, authorities said Tuesday.
About 4:15 p.m., firefighters responded to KMC Paper, 2505 Poplar St., and four engines, two trucks and two battalion chiefs found heavy smoke and flames coming from a pile of paper products in a paper compactor in an interior corner.

Firefighters had set up fans to disperse smoke while coordinating to shut off power to the compactor.

Oakland police were called to assist with nearby traffic dispersal. The fire was declared under control at 4:54 p.m..
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
