OAKLAND — A man was shot in East Oakland Friday afternoon and police were searching for the gunman, authorities said.
The man was wounded in the upper body at around 12:15 p.m. in the area of 105th Avenue and Russert Street in the Stonehurst neighborhood near the San Leandro border.
A relative drove the man to the 98th Avenue Oakland fire station and, after police arrived, he was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown.
Initial reports indicate he was shot by one person who was last seen driving south toward the San Leandro city limits, with possibly another person in the vehicle. Police have not determined a motive and as of 1 p.m. made no arrests.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572 and Oakland police at 510-238-3246.
