FREMONT — An elementary school teacher was arrested Thursday on suspicion of having child pornography in his possession, authorities said.
Gerald Jue, described by school officials as a third- and fourth-grade teacher, was arrested at his home in Contra Costa County and booked into county jail. Jue taught at Gomes Elementary School in Fremont at the time of his arrest, where he’d been for three years.
The Fremont Unified School District put out a news release shortly after his arrest, saying the district was “shocked and saddened” by it.
“FUSD administration is in contact with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and stresses there is no indication that any FUSD students have been identified as victims, or are in any way involved with the material recovered from Jue’s home,” the news release says. “Additional staffing has been made available to Gomes Elementary to assist with Jue’s classroom.
Jue was placed on administrative leave, and district officials say they are unaware of any other complaints involving him. Prosecutors may review the case and decide to file charges as early as Monday, but can hold him without filing charges for three business days.
