OAKLAND — Suspects in a Castro Valley robbery were being sought in East Oakland on Thursday afternoon after their getaway vehicle crashed into a residence and they fled on foot, authorities said.
Initial reports were that two suspects had been arrested and at least two others were being sought as streets in the area were shut down.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Kelly said the suspects robbed the Lake Chabot Public Market, 18911 Lake Chabot Road, in Castro Valley about 3:17 p.m. before fleeing in a 2011 black Subaru that turned out to have been stolen.
Deputies spotted the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. It ended in the 2500 block of 108th Avenue where the Subaru crashed into a residence, authorities said.
It was not immediately known if anyone was injured.
Kelly said the suspects might also be responsible for another robbery in San Leandro.
