OAKLAND — The East Bay Regional Park District Police Department is investigating the death of an apparently homeless man found in Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve on Friday.
A hiker made the discovery in Claremont Canyon about half a mile from Stonewall Road, said Lt. Gretchen Rose. The man appeared to be white and 60 to 70 years old, she added.
Police on Friday were not treating the man’s death as suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing.
The man appeared to be homeless, said Rose, adding that there are several homeless encampments in the area.
