Kehilla Community Synagogue at 1300 Grand Ave., Piedmont, will hold its Kabbalet Shabbat Passover from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 6.
There will be spirited and contemplative prayer. A Kiddush follows the service. Bring vegetarian finger food to share. All events are fragrance free.
There will also be a Yizkor of Passover from 10:30 a.m. to noon April 7 at the synagogue. Bring a vegetarian dish to share after the services. For more information, call 510-547-2424.
PAAC to hold South Asian festival
The Piedmont Asian American Club is holding a new event, the South Asian Cultural Festival, from 3 to 6 p.m. April 14 at the Ellen Driscoll Auditorium, 325 Highland Ave., Piedmont.
The cost is $40 per family or $10 per person. The event will feature traditional South Asian dance lessons in Garba and Dandiya Raas, celebratory dances of India.
Garba involves clapping and stepping rhythmically to the music. Dandiya Raas is the “stick dance” with sticks striking to the beat of the music. There will be live music, children’s activities and Indian snacks.

Girl Scouts to host mother-daughter tea
Piedmont’s Girl Scout Troop 31765 is hosting a mother-daughter tea from 1 to 3 p.m. May 6 at Piedmont Veterans Hall, 401 Highland Ave.
There will be tea, sandwiches and sweets. Participants will paint and design their own teacups; girls will receive a patch and a tea favor for the event. There will be a complimentary photograph for each family. Pre-registration is required by April 9. Cost is $40 per couple, with additional guest, $18.

Talk set on children with learning challenges
Piedmont PRAISE (Piedmonters for Resource, Advocacy and Information in Special Education) is holding a free talk by Sharon Shoshani from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 19 at Havens Elementary School library, 323 Highland Ave., Piedmont.
Shoshani’s topic is “The Lenses We Look Through: Finding Our Children; Helping Them Find Themselves.” It is an evening to share thoughts and support the interests, needs and challenges of children with learning difficulties.

Study session set April 17 on wireless facilities
The Piedmont City Council will hold a study session on the legal constraints and best practices for wireless
communication facilities at 6:30 p.m. April 17 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 120 Vista Ave.
Presentations will include a detailed description of federal and state restrictions on the city’s
authority to regulate wireless facilities, particularly those located in the public rights-of-way, according to the city. The study session will also include information on the types of technology and services expected in the
near future.
There will be discussion on the range of possible designs and locations of antennas, radios, and other types of communications equipment for distributed antenna system (DAS) installations in the public right-of-way. Currently, there are no pending permit applications for wireless facilities in the city.
Residents are encouraged to submit questions in advance of the study session by April 9. Residents can submit questions to cityclerk@piedmont.ca.gov.
The April 17 study session will be televised live on KCOM-TV, the city’s government TV station, and will be available through streaming video on the city’s website at www.ci.piedmont.ca.us/video.
