OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT — An unlicensed 54-year-old driver hit and injured three pedestrians at Oakland International Airport Tuesday, authorities said.
A fourth pedestrian was hurt by a piece of flying luggage, said Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred about 6:15 p.m. outside Terminal 1. Kelly said the unlicensed driver’s red-colored SUV ended up on the walkway after colliding with another vehicle.

Two pedestrians were hospitalized with slight injuries and a third with moderate injuries.
“She banged her head,” Kelly said about the third pedestrian.
The unlicensed driver was not familiar with the SUV and had not driven in “quite some time,” said Kelly, adding that the 54-year-old’s foot may have gotten stuck on the accelerator.
“This is not being considered a terrorist act,” Kelly said. “This appears to be … poor driving by an unlicensed driver.”
The driver was arrested because he was not licensed to drive.
Authorities closed terminals 1 and 2 for an investigation, causing traffic to back up on nearby roads. The area was reopened shortly before 8 p.m.
