OAKLAND — A 29-year-old man was shot Wednesday night as he sat in a West Oakland park, authorities said Thursday. He is expected to recover.
The man told police he was sitting on a bench at Lowell Park in the 1000 block of 12th Street about 5:51 p.m. Wednesday when he heard gunfire and realized he had been wounded. Police did not say where he was wounded.
A parked car was also hit by the gunfire but no one else was reported injured.
The wounded man got his own transportation to a hospital and was in stable condition..
Police have not established a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests, Police are trying to determine if the wounded man was the intended target or was hit by a stray bullet.
