OAKLAND — A Montclair district bank was robbed Friday afternoon by a man who claimed to have a gun, authorities said.
The robbery happened about 2:10 p.m. Friday at the U.S. Bank branch, 1998 Mountain Blvd. Police said the man handed a teller a note demanding money that also claimed he had a gun.
He escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.
The robber is described as a white man in his late 50s, about 5 feet 10 with a medium build, medium length gray and black hair and the same color facial hair. He wore a light-colored trench coat.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $2,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the robber. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
