Letter: Cyclists should be required to do these things so motorists have recourse if a cyclist violates traffic laws

Cyclists should be licensed
and display a license plate

Re: “Community seeks to curb ‘loud packs’ ” (Page B1, April 14):

If a bicyclist wants to, they can turn a motorist in for not respecting their space. However, a motorist has no recourse if a bicyclist violates traffic laws, I believe.

All bicyclists should be required to wear helmets and bright-colored clothing, and should be licensed, with a license plate visible on their bikes.

It would be nice to have a level playing field while sharing the road. Everyone seems afraid to challenge bad behavior.
