OAKLAND — A male was receiving medical care after a shooting and another male has been detained and arrested in connection with that shooting, police said Thursday.
At 4:17 p.m., dispatchers received word of a possible shooting near 73rd Avenue and Favor Street, Officer Johnna Watson said.
Officers responded to the report and found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1700 block of 70th Avenue. Another male was taken into custody nearby, Watson said. According to a tweet from Oakland police, that male complied with police commands.
No information was immediately available on what led up to the shooting, but police said the investigation was affecting traffic and that drivers in the area should use alternate routes.
