OAKLAND — A 22-year-old man was wounded Sunday night in an East Oakland shooting, police said.
The man was able to get his own transportation to a hospital before police arrived at the scene. He was in stable condition Monday.
The shooting happened at 7:16 p.m. Sunday in the area of Edes Avenue and Nevada Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire, finding a car riddled with bullets and numerous shell casings on the pavement — but no victim.
The victim later showed up at a hospital in another city, telling police afterward that he had flagged down a good Samaritan to give him a ride.
Police don’t have a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
