BERKELEY — Police were asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect who robbed a local business early Sunday, authorities said.
According to a joint release with University of California police, Berkeley police said they responded to a report of a robbery around 1:30 a.m. at Touchless Car Wash, 2176 Kittredge Street.
There, officers learned a man walked in, grabbed a pack of cigarettes and tried to leave without paying. When a clerk tried to block an exit, the man pushed him out of the way and headed west along Kittredge toward Shattuck Avenue.
Police described the man as dark-skinned, about 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-5 and 250 to 260 pounds, wearing a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt with a red T-shirt with its tails hanging out, and dark-colored pants. The clerk, who spoke to officers, said the man was a regular customer, police said.
