FREMONT — One man was killed and another wounded Tuesday night when someone shot at them as they were driving, police said Wednesday.
Police did not immediately release the names or ages of either man but did say they were associates.
Police said about 11:18 p.m. Tuesday they responded to a report of gunshots and of a crash in the area of the 34000 block of Torrington Court.
They found a car had crashed into a home at the intersection of Torrington and Chaucer Drive and that a man in the passenger seat had been shot multiple times.
A resident of the area had started first aid on the man which was taken over by paramedics. Despite their efforts the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 p.m., police said.
Police were told by witnesses that a second man ran from the scene.
That man, later confirmed to be the driver of the vehicle that crashed, was found nearby suffering from gunshot wounds considered non-life threatening. He was taken to a hospital
Police have not determined a motive yet for the shooting or where exactly it happened. No arrests have been made.
The killing is Fremont’s third homicide of the year.
