Inappropriate dress isn’tconducive to learning

Re: “How is wearing pajamas conducive to learning?” (Letter to the editor, Jan. 3):

Inappropriate dress in school is ot conducive to learning. It is a distraction.

How are kids focusing with a parade of flesh around? No wonder the comment from “former high school student” Mark Barnes, of Martinez, regarding “not falling asleep in class.” Obviously, it isn’t the lesson keeping someone awake.

This lenient dress code is not teaching anyone about respect for self and others. It is the wrong message being sent about self-respect. It doesn’t reinforce the teaching about “no” meaning “no” in close encounters. How is someone taken seriously when a lot of the dress is suggestive?

I am ashamed of the teachers who condone this new code. They are the adults who are supposed to know better. Frankly, I am disgusted. Our schools are becoming a laughing stock.

Is there any wonder why morals are becoming extinct?
