Fremont police are investigating a shooting near a local bowling alley that left one man injured Thursday afternoon.
At 3:40 p.m., police received a report of shots fired in the parking lot of Cloverleaf Family Bowl at 40645 Fremont Blvd., in the city’s Irvington district, according to a tweet from the Fremont Police Department.
Officers located a man who was suffering from “a non-life threatening gunshot wound.” He was transported to a trauma center for treatment, and detectives are investigating. More details about the man’s identity were not immediately available.
“We are very early on in this investigation and have no further details at this time,” the department said. “The crime scene has been cordoned off and traffic in the area is not impacted.”
Jim Chambers, co-owner of Cloverleaf, told this news organization Thursday evening the victim of the shooting appears to have been a transient who was sleeping in the Fremont Center shopping center parking lot earlier in the day.
