OAKLAND — Investigators are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect in an armed robbery at a popular cafe in the city’s Laurel District, authorities said.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, police responded to calls about a possible robbery at World Grounds Cafe, located in the 3700 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
Officers soon learned that a gunman, who wore an orange vest and black pants and had a green bandanna over his face, walked into the business and brandished a black handgun before stealing at least half a dozen laptops and other electronic devices from multiple customers.
The man, described by authorities as African-American, 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, then left the cafe, got into a light blue Chevy Silverado truck outside and fled. No one was injured.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the robbers.
Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
