A former firefighter in the East Bay is suspected of committing lewd acts upon a child under 14 years old, authorities said.
Detectives with the Placer County Sheriff’s Crimes Against Persons Unit arrested Gerald Norman Fogel, 57, at his Foresthill residence on Tuesday, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. He is suspected of 10 counts of the crime.
Fogel is suspected of committing the crimes numerous years ago in Contra Costa County. Detectives worked with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and obtained an arrest warrant from the county, as well as one from Placer County, the sheriff’s office said.
Fogel worked a volunteer firefighters for the Foresthill Fire district and worked years ago with Fremont Fire.
Authorities booked Fogel into the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez in lieu of $1 million bail. He was not listed in custody on Friday morning.
