LIVERMORE — A man was killed after he veered off the roadway and crashed his car into a tree early Friday morning, police said.
The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. Friday on Patterson Pass Road, east of South Vasco Road in Livermore, said Livermore Police Public Information Officer Joanna Johnson.
The driver, identified as Christopher Lopez, 20, of Martinez, veered off the road in his green Volkswagen Passat station wagon and hit a tree on the north side of the road, police said.
Police are investigating exactly what caused him to veer off the road, but do not believe at this time that drugs or alcohol were a factor, Johnson said.
Lopez was the only person in his car, and did not hit any other vehicles or objects.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic was rerouted between Shannon Court and South Vasco Road at the time of the crash, but did not cause a substantial delay, Johnson said.
