Save Castro Valley from
a devastating wildfire

My house adjoins Lake Chabot Regional Park. After what happened in Santa Rosa my neighbors and I have nightmares during the dry season. A fire starting in the forested park could wipe us out and most of Castro Valley. Same terrain, same conditions as Santa Rosa.

The Ten Hills Trail, immediately behind us, runs along the houses from Redwood Road to park headquarters. We need fire prevention. That trail is used by park maintenance vehicles. It could accommodate fire equipment but there are no hydrants. Hydrants are located on the streets adjoining the trail. Seems like a no brainer to provide water to facilitate the fire trucks.

This is crucial to all of Castro Valley. Remember Santa Rosa. This matter is on MAC Board Agenda on Monday, March 19, at 6 p.m. at the library. Let’s speak up. Don’t wait for the fire.
