Extreme measure needed to stop those in office who are tearing down U.S. institutions
Regarding “Is there a perilous ‘deep state’ of untouchable U.S. officials?” (Opinion section, March 30) by Victor Davis Hanson, the answer is a resounding “Yes!”
An immediate remedy is needed to save our republic and its democratic institutions. And, that remedy is at hand should we choose to exercise it: the mid-term elections.
The sooner we vote out the Republicans and their leadership, the untouchable U.S. officials who I’m sure were Hanson’s real target (but who he could not cite for fear of losing his standing in conservative “never saw a liberal conspiracy I never liked” circles).
In spite of their gerrymandering, voter suppression and denial of science, we the people must bring an end to this deep state of do-nothing politics that excels at tearing down our institutions but is clueless at building up solutions to improve the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of its citizens: infrastructure, health care, climate change, gun violence, etc.
