DUBLIN — The city of Dublin appointed a new parks and community director from southern California, La Shawn Butler, the city announced this week.

Butler most recently served as the parks and services director for the city of Glendora, where she oversaw parks and recrecation, human services and transportation programs. She also worked in the southern California cities of Riverside and Moreno Valley.
Butler will be working on the building the 30-acre Don Biddle Community Park as part of the Boulevard project, and several other projects in the next five years, including the next phase of the Fallon Sports Park.
She has a masters degree in education from Hope International University and her
undergraduate degree in behavioral science from California Baptist University in Riverside.
She will begin working in Dublin July 16.
